HISTORY

Christ Church opened on 5 July 1729 as part of the Fifty New Churches Act of 1711. A major restoration was completed in 2004 and the redeveloped crypt opened in 2015.

TOURS

All are welcome for visits exploring faith, architecture, history, the Huguenots, immigration, and Christianity.

Tours of the church for groups of up to 12 people are available by request costing £60 per tour.

There are a limited amount of tour spots available per month so booking at least two weeks in advance is required.

Viewing the church profile from gated areas or the east end can be arranged outside of school hours. To book this in conjunction with a tour or separately free of charge, please contact the email below.

OPEN CHURCH

The Church is currently open to the public:
Sundays 1 - 4pm

The Vestibule to the church is open between 10am and 3pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday - please note you can see into the church nave but cannot go in the church nave on these days.

Please check with us that we are open (and not closed for an event or service) if you are travelling some distance to visit.

THE ORGAN

The internationally renowned Richard Bridge Organ was fully restored in 2015 today it is used for weddings, funerals, concerts and recitals, for more information please contact our organist Gerard Brooks at gb@gerardbrooks.org.uk

THE FOUNDATION

The Foundation is our fund for the long-term maintenance and repair of the church building. With the closure of the 'Friends of Christ Church Spitalfields’ (Dec. 2017), we welcome: one off donations, regular giving and legacies for the long term care of this historic and iconic building.
