Growing the LIFE – through getting involved

Darren Wolf looks at Matthew 10.1-20

  1. In what way are you strategic about your witness to God’s love?
  2. How might you become more single-minded in your relationship with Jesus?
  3. Don’t forget this week that you have been sent to the people you are standing amongst, to share with them God’s love.

Growing the LIFE

Andy kicks of the September series ‘Growing the LIFE’ by looking at Matthew 28 and asking the question: Growing the LIFE – Why?

LIFE Questions to ask yourself:

  1. Seeing: Is Jesus seen in my life?
  2. Meeting: Am I regularly meeting Jesus in God’s Word and through His Spirit?
  3. Knowing: Do people hear me talk of Jesus as someone I know rather than someone I know about?
  4. Loving: When did I give my life to Jesus?

For that is pretty key to us offering Jesus kingdom life to others; to growing the Life God intends in Spitalfields & beyond…

Simply Jesus

Erin speaks on Luke 16 and considers how ‘Jesus opens heaven to earth’

1. How does following Jesus change the way you ‘confront your privilege’ in your own life?

2. Have you ever seen a ‘glimpse of heaven’ by putting God’s love into practice – for the poor and the privileged alike? What did it look like?

3. Are there other ways we can share in Jesus mission than by sharing with others? What does it mean to share ‘good news for the poor, recovery of sight for the blind, freedom for the oppressed’?

Simply Jesus

Johnny preaches on Matthew 11.1-18 and asks the question: Is Jesus the one?

1.      What most grabs you from the story of John the Baptist’s engagement with Jesus here in Matthew 11?

2.      What do you feel about the evidence, doubt and encouragement from this talk, and these verses?

3.      How do the promises of Jesus, and Lordship of Christ encourage your faith, when your heart is tempted to give up?

Simply Jesus

Sophie speaks on Luke 4.14-30 and asks simply; Who is Jesus?

Jesus came for us all -including those who we feel are ‘not okay’

Who are the people in your life who you feel are ‘not okay’ because they have wronged you or are living a ‘wrong life’?

How does the fact that Jesus came for them affect the way you will feel about them?

And Jesus came for you, yet the passage shows people turning their back on him, people just like you – how does this message challenge you to staky close to Jesus? To make him your cornerstone?

Holy Spirit – Wind of change

A sermon interview with Nick & Helena and Joe & Denny on Ephesians 3.14-21

Think of an occassion when the you were prayed over similar to the prayer in Ephesians 3, what was it like for you?

2 Timothy 1.7 describes the Spirit’s affect as power love and discipline.

How have you seen the Spirit work in you to bring about works of power, love and discipline?

Holy Spirit -the wind of change

Dan speaks on Matthew 3.13-17 – The Holy Spirit Equips

1.  The Holy Spirit is a person (like God the Father and Jesus the Son).  Does the Spirit usually seem personal to you, or impersonal?     Why do you think this is?

 2.  How can the image of the Holy Spirit coming as a dove (Matthew 3:16-17) help us to grasp that He brings ‘power in meekness’?

 3.  The Holy Spirit can equip us in many ways.  He can come alongside us as a guide and counsellor (paraclete), He can bring us power, and He can illuminate Jesus for us.  In which ways do you most need the Spirit to equip you?  In which ways does our church?
